Tonight, you walked up to me and said

Mom, you know how I'm one of those guys who is a wide walker?

I say,

"huh?"

You say,

"Here let me show you."

You then proceed to walk in front of me like a super mega body builder with your legs super far apart. I start giggling and say,

"Kade, I've never seen you walk like that in your life...?"

You start gigglin...

ok mom, well the next time you go shopping for my underwear can you buy some that don't curl up on me. These ones drive me crazy...

Yeah baby, I'll buy you briefs..not boxers. :)

Theren's Birthday Cake!

OK...so ordering a cake for my little boy. I say, "What do you want on your cake this year? Transformers?" He says..."No Mom, this year I'd like a God cake, because I really like God."

Anyone out there know how to make a GOD CAKE???

So as I'm cooking my fancy Pecorno Romano three sheep milk cheese penne pasta...my son Kade comes in and says...."WHO FARTED...whats the awful puke smell!!!" ut oh...they might not eat it tonight.

We are headed to Chicago to stay with one of mommy's best friends. She has a little girl whom you haven't seen in quite some time. I say...we get to go with Braelyn...aren't you so excited.

"Yeah Mom, It's gonna be totally fun. Should we invite Maddy for my birthday."

Oh honey, not this time. I think it will be more special for Braelyn's birthday if just you go and don't invite your other friend.

"But Mom, why can't everyone just get along."

Oh I'm sure you all would get along but for both you and Braelyn's birthdays' you can just spend special time talking to each other...if you bring your best friend, I think someone would feel left out.

"Mom, Maddy isn't even my best friend, Kiara is.. member...in Kinnygarten...we've made such lovely memories together."

You have been amazingly special and wonderful lately. I can tell you've been trying. You have been taking good care of Tiger and you have been doing nice things for our family.

Today, I was in the hallway and you walked up to me to give me a hug. I grabbed on tight and gave you a big squeeze.... You looked up at me and said, "HA, Mom you put me in a BOOBIE TRAP!!"

Dear Kade,

I have been very angry with you because you stole Theren's DSI.. and I haven't been very nice about it. When I read the entry I wrote to you about your spark for the world it made me realize that I may have acted to strong.

I want you to learn that stealing and lying are wrong. I also want you to learn that even when you make a mistake I still love you. What I failed to realize it that every action you make is a teachable moment on my part. You've received your consequence, there is no reason for me to be angry about it. We all make mistakes and that is how we learn to become better people. Mommy made a mistake of being mad about the DS and not realizing that this was just a teachable moment. You are an amazingly loving little boy and I know in my heart this was just a mistake. We both learned something from this situation. I will try harder to help you become a good person, and I hope you will help me become a better mom. I cherish you....Love MOmmy!

Theren-Fat??

I was in the shower, you were to be getting ready for your swim lessons. You come and stand in front of me (naked)and say, "Ma, what do I wear to swimming?" ...What do you think?..."My swimmin suit?" ...yup...

When you returned you were wearing only a swimming suit, mind you this is the dead of winter.

...Theren, do you think that is all you need to wear? It's cold out..."O.K. Mom. Should I put on clothes on top of this?" ...great idea honey...

You return wearing another pair of bright orange (your fav. color) hideous shorts. I don't even know where they came from! You had put them on top of your swim shorts. You had on a sweatshirt and socks. You looked a bit strange but when you started to speak I was once again amazed by you...you said, "Mom, do you think this shorts makes my hips look fat?"

Theren---Germs

You have a cough...you don't like it. Today at the DMV I kept telling you not to touch anything and you kept questioning my words. Finally on the way home you said, "Momma, can I see germs?" ..no.."Are germs what's making me cough?" ..yes.. "How do I get rid of them?" ...you eat healthy food, drink fluids, and rest..."OK mom, bring me to Burger King...I need a double cheeseburger. That'll smoosh em!!!"

And then to top it off, the second we got home you disappeared. You returned with a pillow and a blanket...and put yourself to nap-time on the couch. You are a charmer!!

Tonight on a bike ride we pulled into the street and I looked at you and said..."You lead...anywhere you want!" The way you looked at me I will never be able to describe in words..it was a mixture of pride, confidence, power and pure joy. Have I never let you lead before? Have I never given you the feeling of being "believed in?"

Baby, I believe in you....I'm sorry if I've never shown that to you.

Two and a half miles down the road..you looked at me and said.."We are a long way from home...we can go back now!"
